John and Steve Harroff got aboard the train in South Whitley, August 1962. They rode the train to New York City. There they boarded an ocean liner that took them to Europe. John and Steve were roommates in Marburg, Germany, 1962-1963, participating in Manchester College's pioneer Junior Year Abroad program.
The Brandt family on visit to the United States and the farm. The Dr. Brandt family was host family in Marburg where John and Steve Harroff stayed while studying at Marburg University, 1962-1963. They came to the United States to visit after 1964. John was not living in Indiana at the time and consequently was not in this photograph.
